Helping to protect those who need protection most
The CJB Outreach’s mission is to provide immediate and impactful assistance to women-led households.
We believe that a woman should never be in a position where her children are in jeopardy due to not having the resources to fight for custody, food, shelter, or assets. By taking the stress and pressure from a situation, women make better decisions about their, and their children’s, wellbeing rather than being intimidated, fearful, and stressed into making poor decisions out of necessity. By providing them with legal assistance to protect them, and that is paid for, they no longer have to feel coerced and can fight for what they need to protect themselves and their children.

The CJB Outreach Organization was founded by Julie Barth. Her daughter Taytem was born at 38 weeks with a condition called Primordial Dwarfism. At birth, due to the lack of diagnoses, the necessary lifesaving care she received paralyzed her vocal cords. From there, she endured over 40 surgeries for a laryngeal reconstruction. She subsequently lost her ability to speak.
Soon after her reconstruction, her father Colin was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer at just 33 years of age. He lived 16 agonizing months before losing the battle when Tayt was just 5 years old.
At the age of 13, Tayt was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer, which led to a series of another 12 surgeries. Removal of the carcinoma was the only treatment, which meant the loss of half of her right upper torso including tissue, muscle, and bone. Her legs lent skin grafts to repair the areas that were taken.
Tayt’s family has been through unimaginable challenges and times where they were not sure if they could keep the lights on, and they know what illness or crises can do to a family. Tayt and Julie’s hope is to provide an immediate, responsive, and minimizing impact to those families in the community who have nowhere else to turn.
The reality is that ANYONE can find themselves in a position where they stand to lose everything in an instant. It is our duty as a community to help one another as we hope others will help us. If it were not for many in the Barths’ lives, they don’t know where they would be.
